INSTRUCTIONS
When sewing try not to 'catch' the outer edges or trunk of the Christmas tree as they are delicate.
TREE ONE - FRONT
1. Place four pins (A, B, C & D) equally spaced at the bottom of the Christmas tree about 1/4" (0.5cm) up from the bottom edge, A being on the right hand side and D on the left hand side.
2. Anchor gold coloured thread to the reverse of the Christmas tree behind pin A. Bring the thread to the front and place 7 gold seed beads on the needle. Take the thread to the reverse side at the point of pin B, this should create a scallop, and anchor the thread but do not fasten off.
3. Bring the thread to the front and repeat as in paragraph 2, taking the needle to the reverse at the point of pin C.
4. Bring the thread to the front and repeat as in paragraph 2, taking the needle to the reverse at the point of pin D.
5. Place three pins (E, F & G) equally spaced half way up the Christmas tree, E being on the right hand side and G on the left hand side. Repeat paragraph 2 working two scallops from E to F and F to G. Fasten off the thread on the reverse side.
6. Anchor red thread to the reverse of the Christmas tree. Bring the thread to the front and place one red sequin and one red bead on the needle. Place the needle down through the hole in the sequin and take the needle to the reverse and anchor the thread. Place four more red sequins with beads on the lower section of the Christmas tree.
7. Repeat as in paragraph 6, putting three red sequins with beads on the upper section of the Christmas tree. Fasten off the thread on the reverse of the Christmas tree. The sequins with beads look best when they are unevenly spaced.
TREE TWO - BACK
1. Using the same method as in Tree One, attach ten red sequins with beads and ten gold sequins with beads to Tree Two. The sequins with beads look best when they are unevenly spaced.
2. Anchor gold metallic thread on the reverse of the Christmas tree 1/4" (0.5cm) down from the top. Bring the thread to the front and attach the gold star sequin with a gold bead, using the same method as in Tree One, and fasten off on the reverse.
3. Attach a gold star sequin with a gold bead on Tree One and anchor the thread on the reverse. With the thread still attached, make a loop approximately 3" (7.5cm) in depth, anchor securely and cut the thread. The loop is for hanging the Christmas tree and you may prefer to make it longer or shorter.
CONSTRUCTING THE CHRISTMAS TREE
1. Anchor green thread on the reverse of the Christmas tree at the base but not on the trunk. Place both trees wrong sides together and bring the needle to the front just above the trunk. Work a tiny running stitch around the edge of the Christmas tree in order to keep the two trees together. Take great care not to catch the thread on the outer edges or trunk of the Christmas tree, as they are delicate. Work running stitch on the trunk and fasten off at the base of the tree.
